Montgomery, TX for Two Days
We arrived in Montgomery, TX on Monday evening. We travelled here from Aransas Pass, TX in the TX Coastal Bend, having spent a week there.
We stayed at the KOA in site 106. Take a look at the slope coming up into the site! The land is made of some slow rolling hills and the original campground builder sort of terraced the roads and leveled the top of the sites. This leads to the steep inclines getting onto “some” but not all sites. I elected to go around and back into this pull-through site. It worked out fine. Good satellite too.
Our site was right around the corner from our Heartland Owners Club friends and Central Region Directors, Jay and Stella S. Bless her heart – Stella had dinner ready for us when we arrived around 5:30. She made a stew like soup in the crock pot. Hamburger, a bit of pasta and lots of veggies. Very good! She made super-hearty corn bread that went well with the soup and she made some lemon bars. Love that woman!
Tuesday, we ran some errands, then the four of us stopped at Vernon’s Kuntry Katfish on Highway 105 in Conroe. Oh my gosh – YUM! Nancy and I split two meals – Fried Catfish and Smoked Pork Loin. VERY good. We took half of it home for a future meal 🙂 Stella had Catfish bites and Jay had a bowl of Seafood Gumbo. He let me taste the gumbo – it was VERY good!
Nancy and I worked back at the RV the rest of the day. At dinner time, the 4 of us headed to Navasota, TX to La Casita, a Mexican restaurant to meet up with 2 other Heartland Owners Club friends – Buddy and Maureen R. Slow service, good food and GREAT visit amongst friends!
This morning, before we headed out for home, Jay brought by some goodies from Stella’s kitchen – homemade chocolate chip cookies and a pack of homemade (edible) firecrackers. Thanks Jay and Stella and so long Texas!
