The Hermitage – Nashville, TN

We visited The Hermitage today near Nashville, TN.  It’s the home of President Andrew Jackson.  The home he built here was complete before his presidency, then remodeled a couple of times while he still owned it.  Once, after a fire ravaged it.

Below are a few of the images I took today.  Later, I’ll add more about our visit as well as more images.

This house-like structure is known as the "Springhouse". Water from one of the natural springs on the property was used in the Springhouse to keep milk and other products chilled.

Alfred's Cabin. One of the longest serving slaves owned by Jackson. He stayed on after the property setup as a tourist location, working as a guide until his death.
