Nashville, TN for Easter Weekend
Friday, April 18th
We arrived in Nashville Friday afternoon. We’re staying at the KOA for 3 nights. We’re in site I-05. The KOA has taken several rows in the lower older section and really done a transformation. They made a bunch of premium pull-through sites. Really nice.
Recently, we watched Guy Fiere eating at Athen’s Family Restaurant in Nashville, on an episode of Diners, Drive‑Ins and Dives. So, why not? We stopped to give it a try. We felt it was pretty average Greek food. We liked it. It just wasn’t amazing.
After dinner we headed towards a nearby theater to see the movie, The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Saturday, April 19th
We picked up Lisa and Mike late this morning. We had planned to go to the Nashville Zoo. We were about a mile away and the traffic was nearly stopped with cars waiting to enter the Zoo. Turns out there was a special event there today – Eggstravaganzoo. We decided to go with plan B – which we made up as we did our u-turn.
But first things first – we decided to stop for a snack at Krispy Kreme! We hardly ever go here anymore, but it just sounded good. And it was.
After our snack, we made our way towards Belle Mead. Today’s event would be touring the Belle Meade Plantation. Nancy, Lisa and Mike had all been here before, but it’s a first for me. We had 45 minutes to kill before our main house tour, so we walked the grounds, visiting the various other buildings and sites on the property.
Belle Meade Plantation was not a cash-crop plantation. They bred and raised thoroughbred racing horses here. Quite a storied history as the property passed through various generations of family, then private, then state purchased and now non-profit run.
Sunday, April 20th
He is Risen! Happy Easter friends and family. We are still in Nashville, staying at the KOA. We attended Easter church services in the rally hall at KOA today. It was a nice service with a relatively new church that meets here each week.
After lunch, while Nancy went to pick up Lisa and Mike, I spent an hour replacing the Automatic Transfer Switch in the RV. The replacement was pretty straightforward, but I’m not sure that it’s working correctly. I was a bit tired and sore after being all contorted in such a confined space for an hour, so I’ll do more testing on this later. 🙂
We went out for a family Easter dinner tonight at a Nashville restaurant called Amerigo, an Italian Restaurant. Pretty nice place and really good food. 
Afterwards, we drove up the road to J. Alexanders. We wanted carrot cake and per Trip Advisor, this is the place. Wow! It sure was. Their key lime pie was great too and Mike had their deconstructed sundae and it looked real interesting. The coffee was even amazing – made with a French press table-side and poured into hot coffee cups.
All in all, a great day of remembering our Lord and Savior and spending time with family.
We head home tomorrow (Monday).
