Home, then Knoxville, TN, then Dallas, Fort Worth and finally Reno, Nevada!

Tuesday afternoon, we arrived home after a thousand miles of driving after we left my son Mike and our new daughter-in-law Lorena’s wedding in Fairmont, MN.  This was a quick turn – probably our shortest ever.  We unloaded a few items from the RV, packed our bags, dropped Emme off at the local kennel/boarder and we headed to Knoxville, TN by car.

We stayed overnight near the airport as we had a morning flight on Wednesday.

I had a taste for Thai food.  Using Yelp, we found Lemon Grass in nearby Alcoa.  Very worth the 10 minute drive from the airport area.  The place was smallish, their parking lot even smaller, but the food was outstanding (my review).

We caught our flight in the morning.  We were on an RJ (regional jet) for the first leg from Knoxville, TN (TYS) to Dallas Fort Worth (DFW).  At DFW, we had just enough time to grab a quick sandwich and make it to the C terminal to board our next flight.

Our flight to Reno, NV (RNO) was for the most part, uneventful.  The only real downside was our seating.  Our flights had changed since we booked them and I failed to take note of the seats that were automatically selected for us.  I was wedged into a middle seat.  Long flight (3+ hours) too – ugh!  But I lived 🙂  I also caught a good glimpse of the Grand Canyon.  I have a few club member friends there now.  I couldn’t see them from 30,000+ feet though. 🙂

Once in Reno (HOT – but a dry heat 🙂 ), we grabbed our rental car and hit Walmart for some provisions, then checked into our hotel (Fairfield Inn in Sparks off of I-80).

We checked in with our Pacific Regional Directors to see what they were up to and they were not able to join us for dinner, so we called up our local friends, Richard and Molly R.  They moved to Reno from Miami two years ago and they LOVE IT here.  We ended up meeting them for dinner at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse on the south end of Reno.  Great food (my review) and a great visit with dear friends.

The restaurant was in the Summit Shopping Center, so Nancy and I did some shopping after dinner.  She popped into several clothing stores while I hung out at the Apple Store ! 🙂 !  She got a couple of new tops and I got the Bose QC15 Headphones I’d been wanting for over a year now.  Nancy now gets the QC3 headphones.

We hit the rack at 9:30 pm, tired from 4 days of travel.  We plan to check in on the rally tomorrow (Thursday) and do some area sightseeing.
