Last Day in the RGV – Breakfast with Friends and DonWes Flea Market

Well, today is our last day in the Rio Grande Valley. We will have been here 9 nights. The first day here, the weather was great and today, the last day, the weather is great. The seven in the middle – not so much 🙁 But time spent here in the valley and being with friends – it was all good!

A couple days ago, I decided to have a brunch at our RV for this morning with a couple of friends. Not a lot of space indoors and I wanted everyone to be comfortable. Here in addition to Nancy and myself were Nancy A and Dave S, our North Texas Hearltand Owners Club Chapter Leaders, club members Kevin / Nelly W, Bernie / Judi V and a Retama Village neighbor and friend, Bonnie F.

I got things all setup around 8 am to cook outside. Kevin and Nelly arrived around 9. While Nelly helped Nancy get the indoor space ready for brunch, Kevin and I cooked bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, Belgian waffles and pancakes. I didn’t take any people or food pictures, but here’s a couple of the setup outdoors. We added one more cooker to that table when Kevin brought his electric skillet for bacon-fest 🙂

Great food, great conversation with great friends. After bunch, Nancy, Kevin, Nelly and I cleaned the place up and headed over to the DonWes Flea Market in Donna, TX. We all did a bit of walking, looking at a lot of stuff, dare I say, much of it junk – but we walked and looked none-the-less. We stopped indoors at the restaurant there to have a cold drink and listen to the band there play. We ran into Nancy A, Dave S, Corbin and Flo T and others we knew. I spent $3 on some square drive bits and Nancy bought some fruit and veggies. Not a real exciting afternoon – just nice to be outdoors in decent weather, in shorts and no jacket 🙂 On the way home, we found a FedEx drop to send off my expense reports.

Back at the RV, it’s time to empty the tanks, put stuff away and get ready for travel tomorrow. Tomorrow, we plan to head out around 9 am for about a 6 hour day, traveling around 300 miles to Kerrville, TX to attend the 12th annual RV.net Sweetheart Rally. 23 rigs are planning to be there. Always a fun rally.
