Braving the weather to visit NOLA
After a morning of work and doing expense reports, we decided to call a cab to pick us up at the campground and take us downtown so we could make a FedEx drop-off, have some lunch and do some window-shopping.
After making our FedEx drop, we had the cab drop us off at Cafe Beignet in the French Quarter on Royal Street. We chose this of their two locations as they have indoor seating here.
I ordered a Muffuletta sandwich and Nancy had a bowl of Jambalaya. The food was decent.
We even had a few non-human visitors “inside” the restaurant…The waitress told us the birds get really brave and go a bit nuts after they eat a bunch of powdered sugar from the floors 🙂
And of course, what visit to Cafe Beignet would be complete without beignets themselves? Oh so good too!
After lunch, we strolled (swiftly… in the rain) down Royal Street, stopping in a few shops to look around.
We bought some spices, hot sauce and a food gift. Nice time, weather considered. Looking forward to returning in better weather in a year or two.
Glad you got out for a bit! Great pictures. Hopefully we can do lunch tomorrow or an early dinner.
