A day at the races…
Nancy’s son Mike is in town for the week. This afternoon, the 3 of us went to the horse races at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights (IL).
It was a beautiful day to be outside too.
Mike and I had fun trring to pick winners. Nancy used the “neat name” method. She won a race that way too!
Mike and I found that once we started heading down to the paddock area and looking at all the horses, we made better betting decisions. Not that we became great handicappers or anything, but when we didn’t care for what we saw in a horse, we dropped it from our list. This served us pretty well. That and using Place and Show bets instead of Win only bets. We didn’t end up winners on the day but we left with our shirts on and about $10 down each. Not bad for amateurs.
