Then time for a snack before our flight…

We had a snack at the Ruby Tuesday restaurant in the McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville. Very convenient.

We made it to Chicago O’Hare airport and the first thing that came to Nancy’s mind was Garrett’s Popcorn. If you’ve never tried it, it’s worth going out of your way to find a location. Get the “Chicago Mix”.

Not getting some Garrett's Popcorn is not an option!

After a short wait, we boarded a flight to Dusseldorf Germany. The flight was about 8 hours and went well. Before takeoff, we changed seats for a center row of 3 seats to ourselves. Worked out great as we both got an aisle and a center seat to share.

Our original seats - that we ended up moving from.

Not long after takeoff, dinner was served. After dinner, we watched a movie I had downloaded to the iPad. I set the iPad up on the tray table of the seat between us. Used a headphone splitter. Worked great. And we even had popcorn! You know, some of that Garrett’s “Chicago Mix” we picked up at O’Hare? Yum 🙂

After dinner, we tried to get some sleep. Really didn’t work work out. I can’t sleep sitting up. Got bored and opened up the laptop and worked for a couple hours.

About an hour and a half before landing, a light breakfast was served. All in all, a pretty good flight. We arrived in Dusseldorf around 6:00 am local time. Germany is 6 hours ahead of the Central time zone in the U.S. We grabbed a snack near our gate for our connecting flight to Berlin, our final destination.

The flight from Dusseldorf to Berlin was short – maybe an hour. Perfect really 🙂 My cousin Danielle was there to pick us up. Thanks Dani! We’ll pick up the rest of the day in the next blog post for March 12.
