Traveling home from the Smokys
I am writing this from my travel trailer in a KOA campground in
Clarksville, IN (across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY). The
campground charged me $2 for cable TV and $2.50 to connect to the sewer
but they have free wireless Internet access! Go figure. But hey –
works for me as I’ve been Internet challenged since we left Chicago
almost a week ago.
So we are on the final leg of our return trip of our longest camping
adventure yet – nearly a week in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee
and North Carolina. The weather was great except for the last full
day. We watched The Weather Channel each night to track the progress
of hurricane Frances and knew that we’d get some effects of it in
Tennessee. It was going to be rain, we just didn’t know how much and
on what day(s). So we planned indoor activities (shopping) for the
rainy days. And it worked out perfect.
Hiking and seeing the sights in the Smokys was really great and we’d
love to come back and do more. In fact, as we travel, we are always on
the look-out for that perfect part of the country to retire in. So
far, Tennessee tops our list!
Signing off for tonight but will post more (plus pics) on our Smokys trip page (see page by clicking on the title of this blog post above).
