I rustled up a colorful breakfast today of leftover Aretha Frankenstein pancakes, sliced and fried Opa’s smoked jalapeno and cheese sausage, fruit, juice and coffee. Such a good husband 🙂
Larry U and I typed up an addendum to the rally documentation this morning, then Larry and Bob C (TXBobcat) delivered badges and rally docs to all the rally attendees. For the rest of the day, Nancy worked on her Chegg solutions work and I worked on the Urbanna, VA rally.
I walked down to the rally hall around 4 pm to help setup tables and chairs for the rally Meet and Greet. At 4:30, Larry U conducted the Meet and Greet. We all introduced ourselves. Some had some colorful stories to tell. It was a fun time.
After the Meet and Greet, about 25 of us went out to dinner to Billy Gene’s in Kerrville. They weren’t expecting us but did a very good job quickly getting a room ready for us. And for no notice at all, the wait staff was plentiful and attentive to our needs. I had the Chicken Fried Steak. Pretty good stuff! Here’s some pics from dinner…
After dinner, about 20 of us met back at the rally hall for what I call Nelly Cake. Nelly W makes a layered cake with blueberries and white creamy frosting. For you Heartland readers, you know of what I speak. Yum! Thank you Nelly W! After cake, we got 2 lively games of Mexican Train Dominoes going. The rally hall gets locked up promptly at 10 pm, so my table made it through double-7 only. Fun time.
Today we tried a different off-strip non-chain restaurant for breakfast. I chose one further south of the strip, south on Las Vegas Blvd, then west a block on Warm Springs Road. I also chose it for its proximity to Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort. If we end up having the North American Heartland Owners Rally here, I want to know what restaurants I can recommend based on personal experience. So, we’re at RePete’s Las Vegas Bar and Grill. Â RePete’s has free WiFi – that’s a plus as I’m typing this blog post live from my breakfast table. We ordered their Corned Beef Hash and Eggs and the French Toast. We enjoyed it all. The hash was home made, the home fries were pan-fried and crispy. The eggs were poached just as we ordered them (no runny whites). The French toast was great as well. Â We’d eat here again!
I dropped Nancy back at the hotel after breakfast and I went back to Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort for a meeting with a Caterer. Â That meeting went well. Â Things are looking up for a potential rally here.
Southpoint Hotel, Casino and Spa
I headed south on Las Vegas Blvd. after my meeting at Oasis. Â I wanted to check out the Southpoint Hotel, Casino and Spa. Â It’s possible we could use some of the amenities/services at this place during our rally. Â Right away, I noticed it was less smokey. Â I stopped by Sales and Catering to try to get an appointment with them. Â I checked out their 64 lane bowling alley. Â Very cool. Â I took a stroll by their movie theater. Â Also very nice to have at a hotel/casino. Â This place has some potential.
Buffet at Bellagio
Well, I don’t have any of my own pictures to prove it, but I had two plates of really nice King Crab Legs at “The Buffet” at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. Â We couldn’t get here earlier in the week, so we paid the weekend “Gourmet Buffet” price of about $40 each. Â I felt with my 2+ pounds of King Crab, I got my money’s worth 🙂 Â I found this picture online of the King Crab here. Â Nice and pre-split!
For entertainment this evening, we went to the Prince tribute show, Purple Reign. Â Wow, what a great show (if you like Prince music). Â The performer playing Prince had him down to a tee. Â Looked like him and sounded like him. Â The band was very good as well.
