After the Knoxville, TN RV Show, we began heading towards Florida to work the 2016 Florida RV SuperShow.  FRVTA-Florida-RV-SuperShow-2016-300x122

Here we are ready to pull out of Two Rivers Landing RV Resort in Sevierville, TN.

We stayed at Twin Oaks RV Park off I-75 near Elko, GA on our way to Florida.  Here we are all setup in one of the handy pull-through sites up front.  We’ve stayed here for overnight stays many times and we’ve even attended a Heartland Owners Club Georgia Chapter Rally here.  Nice people – easy-in/out and $20 cash Passport America rate :)

During our travel the next day on the final push to Florida, we ran into Ken and Faye Hyde, our Heartland Owners Club Kentucky Chapter Leaders .  Here we are at a rest/lunch stop.  That other Landmark to the right of us is Ken and Faye.

We arrived at Tampa East RV Resort in nearby Dover, FL, just off I-4 at McIntosh on Monday, January 14th.  Here we are, setup for the week in site B3.

And here’s some important work…  I smoked 4 racks of ribs for a potluck with a bunch of our club members/show volunteers.

On Tuesday, Dave Yocum, Randy Allen and myself ran over to the show to setup the Heartland Owners Club table/shelter/banner.  We setup in the Camping World display among the Bighorns, Big Countrys, Oakmonts, Gateways, Road Warriors and Pioneers.  Here’s a shot of several of our club members working this display later in the week.Florida RV SuperShow - BH, BC, OM, GW, RW and Pioneer

Then we setup a table in the General RV display among the Landmarks.  Here’s a few shots taken by others there.Florida RV SuperShow - Dan and Lisa Brown and Marie PenningtonFlorida RV SuperShow - Landmark

The show went well.  We had sun and warmth, we had cold and wind, we had rain and wind.  Some of everything but that’s Tampa in January.  Heartland did well with sales for our brands and the company was pleased.  Nancy and I had a nice time seeing all of our club friends too.

The only real negative was I and a few others took ill.  On Saturday, I was really sick (flu), as was Julie H and Steve L.  Unrelated we believe was Nancy.  She was ill earlier in the week and it cleared up right away.  For the rest of us, it was “more involved” and mine lasted 4 days.

Tampa Florida – Day 1

My pals Dave Y, Randy A and I loaded up my truck with Heartland Owners Club booth supplies and headed over to Lazy Days RV sales center for breakfast. It’s costing us $52 per night for nice FHU/paved sites and it includes breakfast and lunch each day we’re here. Breakfast was decent – we had scrambled eggs, 2 sausage links, corned beef hash, coffee and juice.

After breakfast, we headed over to the Florida State Fairgrounds to audit all the Heartland Owners Club volunteer badges and to pick ours up. Then we made our way over to the Heartland display and got our 10×10 EZ-Up shelter put up, our table setup and our banner displayed. Mike P from Heartland was there to lend us a hand as well.

At lunch time, along with a group of Heartlanders, we ate over at Lazy Days RV sales center. We had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, corn and a drink. We’d planned to head over to Dover, FL to Parksdale Farms Market for “the best” Strawberry Shortcake. We knew other club friends, Ron and Ann P were staying at a campground near there, so Dave Y phoned them up and they met us there.

This is "the place" for great strawberry shortcake. Just east of Tampa in Dover, FL - about 15 minutes from Lazy Days Campground. It's a must do when we are here.

Oh my gosh – yumo!

Here it is! The best strawberry shortcake ever!

Yesterday, I hatched a plan to have a potluck dinner over at Randy and Santha’s. Tonight, it all came together. I believe there were 16 of us. I even invited a security guard from Lazy Days to join us before her shift started. We had a very nice meal and great conversation. We also had a lively discussion on where we should camp next year during the show as $52 per night here at Lazy Days is really getting a bit steep. We may move down the road a bit. Dave Y and Julie H checked out 3 campgrounds. We believe we’ve narrowed it down to a single finalist and we’ll open talks with them this week.
