I got some online work done early this morning, then headed out with my friend Ed F. to Our Kitchen in Elmhurst for breakfast. Always good eats.
Nancy and I did some shopping in the afternoon. She dropped me off at Fry’s Electronics in Downers Grove while she went to Bed Bath and Beyond. Fry’s is like a candy store for nerds – for me at least. I spent over an hour there, just looking at stuff. I spent about $10 but did a lot of research that led to some Amazon.com action later.
I needed a comfortable pair of black dress shoes so we headed towards Oakbrook Mall when I saw a Nordstrom Rack on the way. Love the Rack! Got me a nice pair of shoes for a nice price too!
What’s a trip to Oakbrook without eating at Wildfire? We had their Chopped Salad and we split a horseradish stuffed burger. Both very good! Another “high on the list” Chicago area favorite – done 🙂
In the evening, Nancy and I, Ed and Alice F and Cathy S went out to Aurelio’s Pizza in Addison. We had salads, then we killed a party size pizza. Another one of our Chicago area favorites – done 🙂
We arrived to Addison, IL about dinner time. We’re staying with friends Ed and Alice F at their home in Addison for our first 2 nights. We stopped at Uncle Harry’s Ice Cream to say hi to owner Leif Nelson and to pickup 2 quarts of ice cream I called ahead and asked him to scoop for me. It was great seeing Leif again. I learned that he went through a rough cancer experience with surgeries and treatments and is now in remission – praise God.
Then we popped next door and went through the Portillo’s Hot Dogs drive-through to pick up dinner. Nancy, Ed and Alice got Italian Beefs and I got my usual: a Chicago Style Hot Dog, a Tamale and a Chili. Yum, yum! We finished off our dinner with coffee and Uncle Harry’s Ice Cream. A great arrival night!
